Casemet Group is a Finnish family-owned company specializing in steel enclosure solutions as well as contract manufacturing of electromechanical and sheet metal structures. The group includes Casemet Oy in Mikkeli, Finland, and Casemet Oü in Pärnu, Estonia. Casemet’s production involves a wide range of manufacturing methods, which means that efficient and profitable process management requires not only expertise but also modern planning systems. Casemet implemented Delfoi Planner – and the results have been excellent.
Aiming for better scheduling and improved reliability
The goal of detailed scheduling in Casemet’s production is to ensure that machines and employees are utilized as efficiently as possible without long downtimes or waiting times. When production tasks are scheduled effectively, the company can deliver products on time as promised. With functioning detailed scheduling, the company can also react quickly to changes such as sudden order peaks or machine breakdowns. These were exactly the areas Casemet wanted to develop.
“When we started to improve our production planning processes and related systems, our goal was to tackle a few challenges particularly related to detailed scheduling. We wanted a system that would enable efficient and flexible scheduling”, says Aki Hyyryläinen, Director of Development and IT at Casemet Oy, and continues:
“Our business goals included reducing work in progress, improving delivery reliability, and increasing customer satisfaction by being able to meet agreed delivery times more consistently. We also wanted a system and user interface that would allow us to visually monitor production in real time.”
Delfoi Planner chosen as the best solution
The production planning functionalities in Casemet’s ERP system did not allow the company to achieve its desired targets, so they decided to look for a more advanced production planning solution. During the evaluation phase, Casemet set clear requirements and defined detailed criteria that the chosen system had to meet.
